Another recruit to the Paramount team, Stephen will be based at our Cardiff HQ, further bolstering the expertise of our ever-expanding Commercial team.
We take some time to catch up with Stephen about joining the fold and his experience so far.
Hi Stephen. What do you do at Paramount?
I’m a Senior Estimator, which means I am responsible for leading schemes through two-stage procurement and pre-construction phases. I will be working on CAT A refurbishment schemes and new building developments, with projects ranging from £1M to £25M+.
What did you do before you joined Paramount?
I worked in Bristol as a Managing Estimator where my responsibilities included leading pre-construction teams in procuring new work through various channels, including several framework agreements. Mainly bespoke high-rise residential and commercial developments within Bristol, Bath, and Newport, my experience is a mixture of main contracting and development, having worked on a wide variety of schemes, from retail and healthcare to social housing.
Briefly detail your day-to-day at Paramount.
Since joining the team, I’ve been shadowing Paramount’s long-serving Estimating Manager Brian, learning from him across a wide range of projects whilst supporting other colleagues. Although my previous experience has largely been within construction, I’ve enjoyed working on some of the large-scale fit out opportunities, including a multi-million-pound hospitality development in Mid Glamorgan.
At Paramount, we’re all about creating places where people want to be. Where’s your favourite place to be?
Although having lived in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales for 20 years, I am a very proud West Walian. I love returning home to North Pembrokeshire as much as I can for walking, coastal rowing, and cycling.
