The Bristol Young Heroes Awards (BYHA), which is now in its seventh year, was originally set up by the Mayor of Bristol to help showcase and celebrate young people who have overcome adversity to achieve greatness or gone above and beyond to make a positive difference in their community, in areas such as sport, arts and culture, volunteering and caring.
For the last three years the awards have been run by Community of Purpose, a charitable organisation dedicated to raising the aspirations of young people aged 11–19 throughout Bristol.
The gala awards ceremony for 2020 was set to be bigger than ever, taking place at We The Curious scheduled 1st May 2020. But, like with every events-based organisation or charity, Community of Purpose faced the difficulty of planning during such uncertain times, and so for this year, the awards will be streamed live online on Wednesday 16th December from 7:30pm.
There’s never been a more important time to celebrate Bristol’s young people and their heroic achievements, particularly given the difficult year many of them have had. The awards will enable deserving young people to feel a sense of pride, positivity and hope, and we wish all the finalists the very best of luck for the ceremony.
