Our construction team have reached a significant milestone achievement at our Old Station Road project in Porthcawl.

Our team have achieved a perfect score from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) for the 20-accommodation housing project, constructed on behalf of Valleys to Coast.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is an independently managed, not-for-profit organisation that works with the construction industry and the public to raise standards and build trust.

Achieving top marks is a team effort; the scoring criteria consists of respect for the community, care for the environment and value placed on workforce.

Giving back to the local community played a huge role in the project’s overall scoring with the CCS. With excellent marks across the board, feedback from the Considerate Constructor review was glowing.

“There are clear signs of positive and clear engagement with the local community, with Paramount going out of their way on many occasions to help and assist. It was clear that positive and relevant leadership was in place.”

Commitment to our communities

The multi-million-pound development will achieve practical completion in the next few months. Ahead of completion, we recently invited pupils from Porthcawl Primary School for an educational workshop and site visit – see more here

Together with our local heating, plumbing, dry lining and electrical subcontractors, pupils from years 5 and 6 were provided with practical introductions to the various trade roles typically involved in construction.

In addition to this, and in support of the school’s environmental goals, Paramount donated seeds for the children to plant trees and delivered large cable drums to be upcycled and reused as outside activity tables.

“Our teams not only go above and beyond in delivering quality homes, but champion initiatives that help inspire the next generation of construction workers. There is an exemplary team environment at the Old Station Road site which we are extremely proud of, and this extends to our dedicated subcontractors who share the same values as Paramount in giving back to our local communities.”

The project, with Valleys to Coast, will consist of 17 one-bedroom and 3 two-bedroom flats across four-storeys and is intended to serve the over 55’s demographic. The accommodation will be completed in May 2024.

“This is a triumph for our team, acknowledging the hard work, time, and effort they have all put in to upholding high standards and delivering best practice on this project. We will continue to set the standard, prioritising care for the wider environment, supporting the neighbourhoods we work in, and the well-being and protection of all our people.”
