The mission for the British Council for Offices (BCO) is to research, develop and communicate best practice in all aspects of the office sector. Its members are offered forums for discussion and debate of key industry topics.
Established in 1990, the BCO is Britain’s leading forum for issues affecting the office sector. Whether architects, lawyers, surveyors, financial institutions, or public agencies, the BCO works to advance the collective understanding of its members, enabling them to work together to create more effective office space.
The BCO is run by a series of committees and are made up of members from all aspects of the commercial property industry. Chaired by John Wright of architectural firm Stride Treglown, the Committee for the South West and Wales region includes the likes of Savills, CBRE, Arup, JLL, Hugh James and others.
With over 28 years’ experience in the design and build industry, Richard brings a wealth of commercial wisdom to the committee.
Richard Jones commented on the appointment:
“I am delighted to be able to join and work together with the rest of the regional committee members at BCO. At a time of high inflation, high interest rates and higher costs of materials, it’s been a turbulent time for the built environment, but I am passionate about promoting excellence in our industry, working collaboratively and transparently with clients whilst encouraging our industry colleagues to hold the line in maintaining reasonable profit, and providing utmost standards in the safe and successful delivery of effective and inclusive workspaces for all.”
Previous to his role as Chief Executive Officer, Richard completed a Management Buyout of Paramount in 2018, having been appointed as Managing Director in 2017. Less than three years later, Richard introduced an Employee Ownership Trust scheme which would see Paramount employees become majority shareholders, collectively owning 51% of the business.
Today, and with the support of the rest of the management team, Richard’s vision ensures Paramount pursues its potential, with the company continuing to achieve year on year growth.
In May, the BCO will be holding its annual Regional Awards Ceremony in Cardiff. It’s a chance for the industry to celebrate the very best offices created and delivered in the South of England and South Wales.
Last year, Paramount’s Bristol base at Dock House was crowned regional winner in the Projects up to 1500sqm category in conjunction with developer V7 and architect AWW.
