We recently invited Year 10 students from Oasis Academy MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester for a guided tour of our latest multi-million-pound live construction project.

The building, in Salford Quays, is in the middle of a total redevelopment, with Paramount converting the old office site into 151 residential apartments complete with communal roof terrace, BBQ area and plans for an outdoor cinema.

During the visit the students went on a tour of the building, directed by our Project Manager who detailed the plans for the site and described the build elements involved in the project. He explained the typical challenges experienced in any large-scale building project and discussed the perceptions of the construction industry, and the range of career opportunities available.

Oasis Academy MediaCityUK is for students aged 11-16 years old and is part of the Oasis Community Learning multi-academy trust group with over 50 academies nationally, 10 international hubs globally and a growing reputation for delivering exceptional education at the heart of the community.

“First of all, thank you to Paramount for organising what was a great experience for our students. A focus upon careers is really important to us in our school and it was useful for the students to see the variety of opportunities available within the construction industry. These types of visits help to plant seeds about future job prospects and I am sure this visit has done the same – thank you.”

Paul McEvoy – Principal – Oasis Media City

Further to the student visit, Paramount presented the academy with a cheque for £1,000. This donation will go towards their Community Hub which provides much needed support and local facilities, including a community food store, English lessons for those new to the country, careers advice and youth support.

“We were delighted to host the tour of our live, large-scale construction project. The students were excellent, well behaved and very engaged in the visit as well as the Q&A session with our Project Manager. We’re pleased the tour has given the students an insight into the construction world, dispelled any fears of joining the profession and encouraged them to explore the types of opportunities available. We wish the students and the academy the very best with their future endeavours.”

Dimitri Tsakiris – Commercial Director (Construction)
