The Brief

Freshwater recently secured space at the newly refurbished Grade II listed Hodge House building in central Cardiff. The client, a national communications consultancy who recently celebrated 25 years in business, wanted an inspirational destination for its HQ that would enable a flexible and collaborative working style, and reflect its creative and innovative offering. As part of a new approach to operating post-pandemic, it was important that the new space would be easy for teams to use – mixing office-based and remote working.

The Solution

To enhance the overall ‘resi-mercial’ interior style at Hodge House, the vision for Freshwater’s space was to utilise the existing base build such as the exposed ceiling, services and brickwork. To further compliment this, concrete effect carpeting and a bold colour palette were incorporated alongside oak and Terrazzo finishes, producing a beautiful industrial design.

Spatially, the HQ needed to include open plan working with a multitude of agile and collaborative hubs. To maximise opportunities for teams to meet with clients, partners and suppliers at the new office, several different zones are now available for meetings, workshops, training and focus groups.

A large boardroom and private offices for senior staff were also implemented. A retractable Crittal glazed wall was added between the boardroom and open plan office to allow for larger events and hosting social gatherings.

A true multi-functional workspace has been created at Freshwater which allows teams to feel supported and inspired. The new, motivational office now feels like home and reflects the company’s brand values and ethos.

What the
client had
to say

“Our brief was to develop a space that was atypical of a traditional office and incorporate colours, textures and styles which created a more homely and comfortable environment for our team. Paramount understood and embraced our vision from the outset. As our colleagues had spent the best part of two-years working from home, our new office needed to offer something more for staff. Somewhere they looked forward to spending time and that encouraged a new and flexible way of working. We are delighted with the end result and thoroughly enjoyed working with the Paramount team throughout the project. From refining initial floorplans and matching materials and colours, to selecting furniture and agreeing layouts – the whole process was professional, thorough, collaborative and a lot of fun. Our new home really represents who we are and what we offer, and we’re enjoying welcoming clients and friends to enjoy the space with us.”
